The discovery of a threatened species (Pentaphlebia stahli) at Ekor Waterfalls necessitated another grant to explore other notable freshwater systems that are in the same region as Ekor Waterfalls and very close to the Cameroon border. Four sites were sampled in the Obudu Mountains, namely Afundu, Cataract, Becheve Nature Reserve, and Grotto streams. The Agbokim River of Agbokim Waterfalls and the Kwa River of Cross River National Park were also sampled. The number of stress-sensitive Ephemeroptera-Plecoptera-Trichoptera (mayflies, stoneflies, and caddisflies) species recorded at the sites was a very rare record in Nigeria. Also, we recorded two endangered species of damselflies at the Obudu sites during the field expedition, i.e., Africocypha centripunctata and Allocnemis vicki. We also recorded many rare occurrences of aquatic insects in Nigeria, some of which had either not been previously reported or had been previously reported in Nigeria. Such insects include Ephoron savignyi (Ephemeroptera), Eurymetra pauliani (Hemiptera), Eurymetropsis schoutedeni (Hemiptera), and Eurymetropsis carayoni (Hemiptera). Others were Chlorocypha luminosa (Odonata)and Chlorocypha glauca (Odonata).
